Solution for Non Profits

Helping organizations in Africa to put information and communication technology to work for the benefit of their community

Web Access implemented this project for a volunteer-led non-governmental organization. This organization provides an online platform where people and organizations working in Africa can showcase themselves and connect with each other for peer learning and information sharing.

Problem:

Our client's value proposition was enabling organizations use information and communications technology; their biggest challenge was simplifying the process sufficiently to enable the non-tech savvy organizations across Africa to be able to use this new platform successfully.

Solution:

They collaborated with Web Access as their technology development partner to simplify and customize the software platform in order to leverage the functionality available within Drupal and CiviCRM. The main challenge was to build a robust solution that was scalable. We also had to ensure that software is generic enough so that it can be modeled in other parts of the world.

Today our solution has evolved into a stable simple-to-use platform that has over 1500 organizations in the network active across Africa. They address multiple and varied issues such as advocacy and policy, arts and culture, conflict resolution, direct social and humanitarian services, economic development and poverty reduction, education, environment, gender, governance, health, human rights and democracy, media and journalism, microfinance, technology, training and capacity building, youth.

This platform currently delivers with great efficiency its three promises “Connect, Explore, Learn”.
